8th day: Sendrisoa - Antanifotsy

A short drive to Sendrisoa (approx. 1000 metres) over roads in bad condition. Here we start a four hour walk to Antanifotsy (1400 metres). We can wonder at the sacred mountain massif of Andringitra, rice terraces laid out so artistically, and some sleepy villages by the way. The Andringitra mountain is strictly protected and for the most part unexplored, it is a unique ecology with a religious meaning. With a well-informed guide and porters for our baggage we walk to the starting point of our tour. We pitch our camp at the river of Zomandao. Bed and full board.

9th day: Andringitra-Gebirge

Today’s walk goes first through the park and then in the southwest direction, we then begin climbing the “peak of the White Man” (2080 metres), up to Andranofady, which takes about 7 hours for experienced walkers. The hilly country is interrupted by deep canyons and giant rocks. Due to the different levels of height we will pass through different zones of vegetation. There are palm trees, euphorbias, orchids as well as lizards, snakes and much more. Only since 1998 has part of the holy Andringitra been open to tourism. Camp, full board.

10th day: Ranohira

After breakfast there is a short and cosy walk (2 hours) to Vohitsaoka, where our car is waiting for us. We start at the Isalo-Mountains and head for Ranohira. Hotel Joyau del Isalo, bed and breakfast.

11th day: Isalo-National park

We start our excursion (National park 500 - 1300 metres) with a three-hour walk to the “Canyon des Rats” in the early morning. Sandstone cliffs here have been subjected to endless of years of erosion, they show us where many rivers have cut deep canyons into the landscape over millions of years. We climb over little rocks to the Canyon of Singes (Monkey Canyon). We pitch our tents next to the Tapia-wood and walk along a river in search of lemurs and reptiles living here. Camp, full board.

12th day: Isalo-National park

A steep walk uphill will take us to the plateau. We arrive at the Piscine Naturelle after five to six hours. An unforgettable and beautiful place with clear water awaits us. During the walk we pass sulphur yellow and almost lunar-looking landscape. We will see euphorbiens, aloes, dwarf palms, pachypodien, animals such as lizards, chameleons, lumurs and (non-poisonous) snakes living in this area. Due to the erosion the Isalo-mountain is a fantastic and bizarrely formed region. Camp, full board.

Cosy breakfast, then an easy walk to our car and a ride to the west coast. We pass through a landscape which gets increasingly dry until it becomes semi-desert-.
