Roundtrip experience

1st day: journey to Paris individual

It’s possible to start the journey from several airports in Germany to Paris.

2nd day: Arrival at Antananarivo

Flight to Antananarivo (Tana), the capital city of Madagascar, in the night. Arrival at Ivato Airport at 3 p.m. Check-out, service and transfer to the Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast. Short explanations for the journey.

3rd day Antananarivo

Visit to the kings’ hill at Ambohimanga, the former capital of the Merina kings. The sightseeing includes a visit to the colonial buildings and a visit to the Botanical Garden of Tsimbazaza with its museum. Hotel Gregoire, bed and breakfast or equivalent.

4th day: Antananarivo - Antsirabe

Visit to some markets of Antananarivo to get an impression of the way of life in Madagascar. After it our journey leads us through the highlands to Antsirabe, a spa known in the colonial times. Visit to a volcanic lake. Because there are many minerals, we also go to see a cutter of precious stones. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Diamant or equivalent.

5th day: Antsirabe - National reserve Ranomafana

Continuation of the journey through the highlands to Amositra. Sightseeing includes a handicrafts factory and a drive to Ranomafana. Night excursion to observe the nocturnal activities animals - one of the highlights of this journey. Bed and breakfast, bungalow at a nature spot or equivalent.

6th day: Ranomafana - Fianarantsoa

Day excursion to Ranomafana national reserve. Tropical rain forest, home of different kinds of lemurs, exotic freshwater fish and the Ravinala-palms, also named “tree of the travellers”. Before we begin the journey to Fianarantsoa toward evening, we go to the hot springs to relax. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Soafia or equivalent.

7th day: Fianarantsoa - Ranohira

Past the granite ninepins of the Andringitra mountains and over the deserted Horombe plateau, the journey goes to Ranohira on the edge of the Isalo mountains. Visit to a factory in Ambalavao, where the Antaimoro-paper is produced. Bed and breakfast, Joyau del Isalo or equivalent.

8th day: Isalo national reserve

Walk in the Isalo national park with a picnic at the Piscine Naturelle, a small lake with waterfall. The Isalo is a mountainous region made spectacular by erosion, bizarre formations with caves, ravines, creeks and oases. Bed and breakfast, Le Joyau del Isalo or equivalent.

9th day: Ranohira - Tulear

Early in the morning journey to Tulear with very beautiful photo opportunities. On the way we visit the imposing Mahafaly graves. In the afternoon there’s a visit to the arboretum with all its specimens from the southern part of the island of Madagascar. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Plazza or equivalent.

10th day: Tulear - Anakao

In the morning we meet at the port, from where we are going by motorized dug-out canoe to Anakao over the open sea for about four hours: A heavenly beach away from all the tourist paths. Bed and breakfast in the very plain Vezo safari bungalows or equivalent.

11th day: Anakao - Nosy Ve

Beach trip and visit to the offshore island of Nosy Ve, a pure sandbank on which rare birds nest. Bed and breakfast, Vezo safari bungalows or equivalent.

12th day: Anakao - Tulear

The adventurous journey goes back by the motorized dug-out canoe over the sea to Tulear today. In the afternoon, depending on the time of arrival, there’s a tour of the town and if possible a visit to the ethnic art museum. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Plazza or equivalent.

13th day: Tulear - Morondava

Transfer and flight to Morondava in the morning. We go to our hotel to refresh ourselves here. Then we seek out the nearer surroundings of the town with a market, port and the long sandy beach. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Arche Noah or equivalent.

14th day: Morondava and surroundings

The most impressive of the seven types of monkey-bread tree growing in Madagascar are to be found in the surroundings of the coastal resort of Morondava. The journey to the famous Baobab avenue leads us past beautiful villages of Sakalava and gives plenty of opportunity for photos of graves which are decorated here with wood sculptures. Bed and breakfast, Hotel Arche Noah or equivalent.

15th day: Morondava - Antananarivo

Depending on flight times, desire and mood, once again there’s a beach break or a beach stroll. Transfer and return flight to Tana. Here we move on to our hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

16th day: Antananarivo - Flight back

Visit to the famous market “Marche de Artisanat”. A chance to get some souvenirs. Transfer to the airport and flight back to Paris at 5:05 p. m.

17th day: Arrival at Paris

Continuation of the flight and individual journeys home.
