Individual journey to Paris. On request, it’s possible to start the journey from several airports in Germany to Paris. Please ask for details. In the evening flight to Antananarivo (Tana), the capital city of Madagascar.
Arrival at Antananarivo (Tana), Ivato Airport. Check-out and transfer to the Hotel Gregoire or equivalent. In the afternoon a tour of the town and a visit to the zoological botanic garden Tsimbazaza. We get a first impression of the variety of Madagascar's animal and plant life here. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast
In the morning we go to Andasibe in the direction of the East coast through the mist-capped rain forest. Species of animals as rare as Lemurs and Makis live here in the Analamazaotra national park (approx. 810 hectares), in the midst of tropical vegetation. The Indri, the greatest Lemur still living, is very remarkable. An unforgettable experience for all nature-lovers is the nocturnal animals observation session (torch not forgotten). After a day excursion, return journey to Tana. Away stop in Marozevo at Peyreiras private reptiles farm. Besides the most varied reptile species, with a little luck, also see the greatest of about 3000 butterflies here (wing span approx. 30 cm). Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.
In the early morning transfer to the airport, where we head for the rainforest at the middle east cost to Mananjary. We will inspect a nearly unspoiled region of nature. The Hotel Jardin de la Mer or equivalent waits for us, bed and breakfast.
After breakfast we start with a cosy ride by motorboat on the Canal de Pangalanes. This channel is the only connection to the villages in the hinterland. Slim Pirogen (dug-outs) gracefully glide past to us, fully loaded with persons, bananas or other products. Our destination: the village Ambohitsara. We stay overnight in Irmgard’s Auberge de Ambohitsara (incl. full board). Our accommodation is without electricity, just like the cottages of the villagers.
An opportunity to acquaint yourself with a Madagascan village, incl. visits to the school, the hospital and the church. The villagers grant us a look into their huts. The walk into Old Ambohitsara is a must. A stone elephant which ancestors are said to have brought all the way from Yemen stands there. The boats bring us back to Mananjary, where we picked up by car and go to the Ranomafana national park. The golden bamboo lemur discovered in 1987 and the smallest frog of the world live here. Bungalow in Nature Domain or equivalent, bed and breakfast.
We do a full circuit on foot to let ourselves be initiated into the secrets of the park by a native guide. Whoever feels like it can also take a bath in the thermal springs for a diversion at the end. Bungalow in Nature Domain or euquivalent, bed and breakfast.
After breakfast we drive via the Betsileo-vineyards (also named the granary of Madagascar) to Ambalavao, where we will observe the traditional making of the famous Antaimoro-Paper. At an arranged meeting point we will picked up later on our way to the SOA-camp (or equivalent). The camp is situated in the holy Andringitra-mountains, full board.
This area has only recently been partly opened to tourists. It involves a lot of secrets. Many plants and creatures exclusive to Madagascar live here and there are places of silence too. At the same time many Fadys (prohibitions) to be observed. This Fadys are holy and very important to the tribe of Betsileo and Bara. SOA-camp or equivalent, full board
We go back to Madagascar’s modern civilisation. We enjoy the comfort of the Hotel Soafia or equivalent with its bed and breakfast and the chance to refresh our selves.
You can expect to see terraced rice fields and to enjoy a pleasant climate on the journey to Antsirabe. We make a stopover to the Zafimaniry (wood carver) at Ambositra. Ambositra is situated at an altitude of 1500 m (metres). On account of the healthy air and the thermal spring the location is also named “Vichy of Madagascar”. This place is famous also for itssemi-precious stones. Hotel Diamant or equivalent, bed and breakfast.
After breakfast we go to Ambatolampy and climb up the mountain of the magician. We drive back to Tana in the afternoon. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.
Today's visit is to the kings' hill, Ambohimanga, the former capital of the Merina-kings. Overnight in hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast
Today visit of the artisan market "Marche d’Artisanat". In the afternoon transfer to the airport Ivato, where we check in for the return flight to Paris.
Arrival in Paris, followed by individual journeys to the respective places of residence.
